Release Notes

"I arrived in London with an Adidas hold all and a battered old acoustic guitar. I had a Rolls Royce now. We arrived in a music scene when there was nothing, it was barren. We left by selling out three nights at Wembley. That's what it means".

Written By Noel and released on July 7th 1997 as the lead single to teh 3rd Album Be Here Now, the track clocks in at around 7 minutes 42 seconds in its album version produced by Noel Gallagher alongside Owen Morris

From Acoustic Guitar

Musically, it's a sprawling rock anthem with a lengthy intro featuring feedback and heavy drums, incorporating Morse code in the back ground (intended spell 'bugger all') Noel describing the chorus as a vague nod to self assurance, like winking at yourself in the mirror. It samples a drum beat from N.W.A's Straight outta Compton, and has been interpreted by some as drawing from Noel's childhood experiences with abuse from his father.

To Demo

The single was a massive commercial hit, debuting at number one on the UK Singles Chart and also topping charts in Finland, Ireland, and Spain.
