"Diamond in the Dark" is the second track on Liam Gallagher's third solo studio album, C'mon You Know, released on May 27, 2022. The song was issued as the fourth single from the album on May 26, 2022. It was co-written by Gallagher, Andrew Wyatt, and Michael Tighe, and co-produced by Wyatt and Emile Haynie.
Critics have noted its rhythm-led style, with a guitar hook reminiscent of Arctic Monkeys' "Do I Wanna Know?" and an overall vibe like Oasis covering a track from their AM album.
The song is a mid-tempo rock number exploring themes of separation, heartache, and lingering memories after a breakup. The verses detail Gallagher leaving Los Angeles and reflecting on time spent in a toxic situation, while the chorus features surreal, nonsensical imagery inspired by his brother Noel's lyrical style in Oasis songs like "Champagne Supernova."
Gallagher has revealed it's about a temporary split from his partner and manager, Debbie Gwyther, expressing mixed emotions of hope that she's fine but also wishing she's upset.
