Lyrics

I'm going toe-to-toe with a greedy soul
He's going down tonight, gonna be out a while
She got a 666, I got my crucifix
She got a spinning head like seeing Grateful Dead

You're getting told, you greedy soul
You've been telling lies, the slippery kind

And it's a long way down
When you're the wrong way 'round
And now it's all too much
I got the Midas touch

They're taking me for gold
Well, if the truth be told
He got you kiss and tell
I hope you go to hell

I'm going ropey dope
You think I'm giving up
I gotta run or hide
I don't give a fuck, alright?

You're getting told, you greedy soul
You've been telling lies, the slippery kind

And it's a long way down
When you're the wrong way round
And now it's all too much
I got the Midas touch

And it's a long way down
I'm at the lost and found
And now it's all too much
I got the Midas touch

And it's a long way down
When you're the wrong way round
And now it's all too much
I got the Midas touch

Notes

"Greedy Soul" is a raw, aggressive rock and honky-tonk song that captures Liam Gallagher's classic brash attitude. Co-written with producer Dan Grech-Marguerat, Greg Kurstin, and Andrew Wyatt, the track stands out as a powerful highlight on his 2017 debut solo album.

The Vindaloo Vibe: Gallagher famously compared performing the song live to eating a super-hot curry. He told The Independent that it has so much energy and power that you start singing it and think, "I'm gonna have a heart attack here, but c'mon!

The Premiere: The song was first played live at Gallagher’s debut solo gig at The Ritz in Manchester and officially launched as a single following a performance on Later With Jools Holland

George Martin's Legacy: The official live music video was shot at the legendary AIR Studios founded by Beatles producer Sir George Martin, featuring a booming addition of a full brass section and soulful backup singers.

A Song of Vengeance: Gallagher admitted in an interview with GQ that the venomous lyrics come directly from "a place of vengeance." The track serves as a heavy-hitting vent inspired by the high court costs and drama surrounding his divorce from Nicole Appleton.

High Praise from a Legend: Legendary American songwriter Jimmy Webb was a guest on Jools Holland the night Gallagher performed it. Afterward, Webb told Liam that the line "And it's a long way down / When you're the wrong way round" was "one of the finest lyrics" he had ever heard.
