Lyrics
If only you and I could try to turn the page
Like the winds of change that come around now and then
The cold against my shoulder
It always seems to be there
Do you think I'll ever learn?
Would you give me the will to carry on?
In a place where I belong
As we try to find our world that's been and gone
Would you give me the will to carry on?
In a place where I belong
As we try to find a world that's been and gone
As we try to find a world that's been and gone
As we try to find a world that's been and gone
As we try to find a world that's been and gone

Notes
Released as a surprise track on January 1, 2022, "Trying to Find a World That’s Been and Gone: Part 1" offers an intimate glimpse into Noel Gallagher’s reflective and stripped-down songwriting. Presented as a demo, the track showcases a softer, more introspective side of the legendary artist, combining heartfelt lyrics with a minimalist arrangement.
The song features Noel’s evocative vocals accompanied by gentle acoustic guitar and subtle piano flourishes, creating a wistful and haunting atmosphere. The lyrics explore themes of loss, nostalgia, and longing, resonating deeply with listeners. Unlike the anthemic soundscapes often associated with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, this track feels personal and raw, allowing the simplicity of the music and emotion of the lyrics to take center stage.
Described by Noel as a song that came together during the quiet isolation of lockdown, "Trying to Find a World That’s Been and Gone: Part 1" is believed to hint at the direction of his forthcoming studio album, showcasing his evolving artistry and willingness to embrace vulnerability in his music.
