In 2011, Smith joined Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds as a guitarist, contributing to the band's live performances and recordings. His collaboration with Noel Gallagher, the former lead guitarist and principal songwriter of Oasis, has been marked by mutual respect and admiration.
