The Oasis Demo Tape was an early recording made by the band in 1993, before they achieved widespread fame, with the primary goal of attracting interest from record labels. It was recorded primarily at the Real Peoples studio on Porter Street in Liverpool UK, around March 1993, though sessions spanned spring of that year. The band had formed as Oasis in 1991 after starting as the Rain with Noel joining to take creative control.
The recordings were produced by Mark Coyle, with significant assistance from Tony and Chris Griffiths of the Liverpool band the Real people who owned the Studio.
Sessions typically ran from Friday Evenings to Sunday Nights, starting creatively but often becoming rowdier as they progressed, fuelled by the bands energy and occasional wildness.
The Atmosphere was collabritive and positive, with the Real People helping refine arrangements, teaching recording techniques, and even contributing backing vocals and ideas.
Equipment included a Tascam eight - track recorder with a SEC 16 into 8 desk, and Oasis used their own instruments. Most tracks were captured live, with vocals sometime overdubbed in a separate room to manage bleed, and samples.
Six Tracks were recorded at the studio, whilst two acoustics ones (D'yer Wanna Be A Spaceman, and Married with Children) were done at Mark Coyles Home.
