Andy Bell

Bell's musical journey began in his youth, inspired by the vibrant sounds of the 1980s alternative rock scene. In 1988, he co-founded the band Ride alongside Mark Gardener, Laurence "Loz" Colbert, and Steve Queralt. Ride quickly became a leading force in the shoegaze movement, characterized by its ethereal soundscapes and introspective lyrics. Their debut album, Nowhere (1990), is widely regarded as a seminal work in the genre, featuring standout tracks like "Vapour Trail." The band's follow-up album, Going Blank Again (1992), further solidified their status in the alternative rock landscape.

After Ride disbanded in 1996, Bell formed Hurricane #1, serving as the band's guitarist and primary songwriter. The group embraced a more straightforward rock sound, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1997, which included the hit single "Step into My World." Hurricane #1 enjoyed moderate success before disbanding in 1999.

In 1999, following the departure of founding members Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan, Bell joined Oasis as their bassist. His versatility and musicianship were instrumental in the band's continued success during this period. Bell contributed to three of Oasis's studio albums: Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005), and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). Notably, he penned songs such as Turn up The Sun andKeep The Dream Aliveshowcasing his song writing prowess within the band's evolving sound.

After Oasis disbanded in 2009, Bell continued his collaboration with Liam Gallagher, joining the latter's new band, Beady Eye, as a guitarist. Beady Eye released two albums, Different Gear, Still Speeding (2011) and BE (2013), before disbanding in 2014.

Following Beady Eye's dissolution, Bell embarked on a solo career, exploring new musical directions and releasing albums that reflect his diverse influences. In 2014, he reunited with his former bandmates in Ride, delighting fans with tours and new material that recaptured the essence of their earlier work while incorporating contemporary elements.

Bell was previously married to Swedish singer Idha Övelius, with whom he has two children. He currently resides in London and has been married to Shiarra, a label representative from Universal Music Group, since 2010. Together, they have two children.

As of 2024, Bell remains an active figure in the music industry. He continues to perform with the reunited Ride and has been involved in various musical projects, including the supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos. His enduring influence and adaptability have solidified his status as a respected and innovative musician in the ever-evolving landscape of alternative rock.
